Data Governance Analyst | Initial 6M Contract | Competitive Day Rate

Why this role exists:
A large, multi-campus education institution is getting serious about its data landscape and needs someone to build the mapping and governance foundations properly. The focus for the next 12 to 18 months is documenting and structuring how data flows across enterprise systems, aligning to sector standards and standing up a repeatable, governed mapping process that the whole organisation can rely on.
What you'll do:
- Develop and implement a structured approach to source-to-target data mapping aligned to enterprise data governance standards
- Build authoritative mappings between PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and MCDS across the student lifecycle, starting with admissions
- Establish and maintain a central repository of approved mappings including lineage, transformation rules and business definitions
- Define mapping methodologies, naming conventions and documentation practices to ensure consistency and reusability
- Engage with business stakeholders to elicit, validate and agree data definitions and transformation logic
- Support priority projects and integration initiatives by applying and extending approved data mappings
- Contribute to data quality improvement by identifying gaps, inconsistencies and risks in source data
- Feed into roadmap recommendations for expanding mapping coverage across the enterprise
What you'll bring:
- Demonstrated experience in business or data analysis, data modelling or data mapping within complex environments
- Proven experience developing source-to-target mappings, transformation logic and data definitions
- Strong understanding of data concepts including lineage, modelling and governance
- Ability to translate business processes into structured data definitions and communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience working with enterprise systems, preferably PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or similar
- Higher education sector experience or exposure to MCDS or TCSI standards (nice to have)
- Experience with data governance, metadata management or data catalogue tooling (nice to have)
- Exposure to analytics, reporting or integration delivery environments (nice to have)
Team & ways of working:
You will work closely with the Head of Data Management and Digital Governance, IT office teams and business stakeholders across student administration, acting as the bridge between business needs and data structure.
