What you’ll do
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand needs and convert them into clear system requirements
- Contribute to solution design and architectural discussions
- Design, build and maintain new and existing web and client/server applications
- Manage upgrades, fixes and enhancements to meet agreed service levels
- Provide application support, troubleshooting and problem resolution
- Apply quality control and testing practices across the SDLC
- Document development work consistently and accurately
- Participate in user acceptance testing and release readiness
- Mentor junior developers and help uplift engineering practice
- Identify opportunities to modernise, streamline and improve the SDLC
What you’ll bring
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience
- Strong experience designing, developing, integrating and supporting complex application systems
- Full SDLC experience across BAU and project environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement ability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Solid capability with core computing skills including databases, spreadsheets and documentation tools
- Experience gathering and documenting requirements across methodologies (Agile or Waterfall)
- Demonstrated experience designing enterprise-grade solutions
- Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and make sound decisions
- PeopleSoft, Finance systems/workflow, & Oracle database experience (desirable)
- ITIL certification or experience with ITIL processes (desirable)
- Experience in the Higher Education sector (desirable)
Team & ways of working
You’ll join an Enterprise Applications team within University IT, reporting to the Manager of Solutions. Expect cross-functional collaboration with project services, business units and other engineering teams. Hybrid flexibility available (typically 2 days WFH).
Compensation & details
- Permanent, full-time
- $105k–$116k + super (market-aligned assumption)
- Occasional weekend or after-hours work may be required
- Must hold (or be able to obtain) a National Police Clearance
- Full working rights required
