Modern Workplace Specialist | M365 | Approx. $150k Package (14.5% Super)

The quick version

  • Own the governance and architecture of a large Microsoft 365 environment
  • Blend deep technical capability with strong end-user and change focus
  • Shape collaboration, Teams, Power Platform and Copilot at scale

Why this role exists

A large, nationally distributed organisation is resetting how it governs and scales Microsoft 365. The goal is simple but ambitious: embed platform governance, data governance and user experience into solution design, not bolt them on later. This role sits at the intersection of collaboration, governance, security and adoption, playing a critical part in long-term digital and AI transformation.

What you’ll do

  • Take ownership of the Microsoft 365 collaboration stack: Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Power Platform
  • Design and implement Teams and SharePoint architecture, including templates, lifecycle management and hub-and-spoke models
  • Lead governance uplift across collaboration, storage and citizen development, reducing shadow IT without blocking users
  • Support Copilot readiness through permissions, compliance, information architecture and responsible-use guardrails
  • Contribute to Power Platform governance, automation standards and citizen developer enablement
  • Partner with cyber, data and business stakeholders to align platform decisions with risk appetite and real user needs
  • Support a broader Microsoft 365 tenancy migration as a subject-matter expert
  • Educate and influence stakeholders through clear guidance, documentation and practical change approaches

What you’ll bring

  • Strong hands-on experience across Microsoft 365, especially Teams, SharePoint and Power Platform
  • Proven experience designing governed collaboration environments at medium to large scale
  • A user-centric mindset: you care about how people actually work, not just how platforms are configured
  • Confidence in engaging non-technical stakeholders and translating governance into practical outcomes
  • Exposure to security, compliance, information management and data protection concepts in M365
  • Experience supporting change, adoption or modern workplace transformation initiatives
  • Nice to have: exposure to Copilot, Purview and higher-education / complex enterprise environments

Team & ways of working

  • You’ll work closely with IT leadership, cyber, data and business teams in a national operating model
  • While the role is technically hands-on, it’s equally about influence, architecture and long-term direction
  • Hybrid working is supported, with flexibility around location for the right Perth-based candidate

Why it’s different

  • You’ll shape governance upstream, not clean up downstream mess
  • Rare opportunity to influence collaboration, data and AI foundations together
  • Backed by senior stakeholders who want balance, not bureaucracy
