Senior AI Software Engineer | Consulting | Contract or Perm

The quick version:

  • Senior full-stack role at one of Perth's fastest-growing AI consultancies
  • TypeScript, React and a genuine Claude Code-first workflow on a modern stack
  • Small, flat team building production-grade AI systems for real clients
  • Show us what you've built. Repos, demos and live apps speak louder than a CV

Why this role exists:

A Perth-based AI consultancy scale-up is growing its engineering team and needs a senior engineer who leads with judgement as much as code. The work is production, data-critical workflow systems built for real clients across every industry. Getting it right matters more than getting it fast and the team is looking for someone who gets that.

What you'll do:

  • Take features from requirements through to production across multiple concurrent client applications
  • Design, build and ship the typed layer end-to-end: React/TypeScript front ends, typed APIs and the data and permission models behind them
  • Build full-stack applications end-to-end primarily through Claude Code, owning the workflow from repo setup to shipped product
  • Raise TypeScript standards across the team, covering type-safety, runtime validation and developer experience
  • Debug across client systems with a test-driven mindset
  • Scope before building, de-risk early and avoid rework by understanding requirements deeply
  • Integrate real systems, including third-party APIs, multi-tenant setups and production databases

We care about three things. You don't need all three, but you need to be strong in at least two:

1. Claude Code as your daily driver. Not just "I've used it." You plan with it, scope with it, build full features through it and stay in control of the output. Plan files, MCPs, Skills, phased execution, token-conscious workflows. If Claude Code isn't your tool, equivalent depth in Cursor or similar agentic tooling counts, but you'll need to switch.

2. You've built and delivered something for a real client or end user. Not just internal tickets handed down by a manager. You've understood a client's problem, mapped it out and shipped a working system. Consulting, freelance, startup, side project for a paying customer: all count.

3. The stack. Senior-level TypeScript depth (generics, discriminated unions, runtime validation), modern React, typed APIs, relational data modelling and Postgres or equivalent. This is your day-to-day, not a secondary skill.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with LLM prompting, MCPs and current AI/agentic tooling in real production work
  • Familiarity with React 19, TanStack, Tailwind, Hono, Supabase or Trigger.dev
  • Consulting or multi-client delivery background

Team and ways of working:

This is a flat structure. No teams, no layers, no hierarchy. A small group of experienced builders who each own client projects end-to-end. You pick up work, you build, you ship. Everyone sits together, shares what they learn and supports each other. High trust, high pace, high standards. Everything reaching production is reviewed and shipped with care. You'll be cracking on with real work within your first week.

What to expect in the process:

Beyond the conversation, expect a practical build exercise. You'll spin up a repo and build a small full-stack app through Claude Code, showing how you plan, scope, test and ship something real. Claude credits provided.

Contract details:

  • Full-time permanent or ongoing contract
  • ~$150k plus super or ~$700/day plus super
  • North Perth, office-based with flexibility

Why it's different:

  • Greenfield builds for real clients, no legacy maintenance or ticket queues
  • Direct line to meaningful work inside a team that actively adopts the latest AI tooling
  • A clear growth path toward leading a team as the business scales

How to apply:

  • Apply via DR Analytics Recruitment.
  • Send your CV plus links to real work you've designed and built.
  • GitHub repos, live apps, demos, etc - anything that shows how you build.
  • A polished CV with nothing to show behind it won't cut it.
  • We want to see what you've shipped, not just what you've listed.
