Why this role exists
As part of the Artificial Intelligence Competency Centre (AICC), you’ll translate AI strategy into working prototypes, proof-of-concept agents and enterprise-ready solutions. The emphasis is on responsible AI—ensuring governance, controls and monitoring frameworks underpin every initiative.
What you’ll do
- Prototype and deliver AI solutions that enhance student and staff experience
- Design and deploy conversational and autonomous agents to improve service efficiency and knowledge management
- Implement guardrails, controls and monitoring mechanisms to ensure responsible AI performance
- Conduct proof-of-concept experiments such as staff policy navigation or student support automation
- Collaborate across data, application and academic teams to integrate AI into enterprise workflows
- Apply best practices in AI governance, bias mitigation and ethical deployment
- Document architectures, controls and model performance for transparency and reproducibility
What you’ll bring
- Degree in IT, Data Science, Analytics or a related field
- Proven experience developing conversational agents with clear design and fallback logic
- Familiarity with low-code or no-code platforms such as Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Dataverse, SharePoint and SQL
- Experience building or integrating AI solutions within Azure AI, OpenAI or similar ecosystems
- Solid understanding of APIs, data integration and model monitoring
- Knowledge of responsible AI frameworks, bias reduction and MLOps principles
- Strong debugging, testing and documentation discipline

Compensation and details
- Rate: $750 to $850/day incl. super
- Location: Perth-based, hybrid work options
- Contract: 6-month rolling contract
- Work rights: AU citizenship or PR required
- Commencement: Immediate
