DR Analytics Recruitment is partnering with a leading data and analytics consultancy to find a dynamic and driven Senior Data Engineer to join their growing team.

About the role


As a Senior Data Engineer you will lead the design and implementation of data engineering solutions for a diverse client base. You will understand client data needs, assess data quality and turn that data into insights that drive real business benefit. Day to day you will architect and build solutions, lead a team of data engineers, manage client relationships and delivery, and mentor more junior members of the team.


Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement data models and architectures that support business needs, and select appropriate storage solutions such as databases, data lakes and lakehouses.
  • Build and optimise ETL or ELT processes for data integration, ensuring data quality and integrity throughout the pipeline.
  • Create, manage, monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure timely and efficient data flow.
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Implement data governance best practices for compliance and security, and maintain clear documentation of sources, pipelines and architecture.
  • Analyse system performance and optimise data storage and processing to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
  • Stay across emerging technologies and recommend new tools to enhance data capability.


What you will bring

  • At least 5 years in a similar role, including at least 5 years of client delivery within a project or consultancy environment.
  • Considerable experience leading the design and delivery of data solutions.
  • Strong experience in ETL/ELT frameworks and IoT architectures, data modelling and database design.
  • The ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into solutions and architectures.
  • Proven experience deploying production-ready data pipelines.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, leadership and relationship management skills.
  • Business consulting experience and strong problem-solving ability. Familiarity with SFIA is well regarded.


Technical skills

  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Microsoft ADF, AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, Fivetran, DBT, Talend and Informatica.
  • Experience with at least one of AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Strong SQL, plus coding in Python, R or similar.
  • Cloud platform experience across Azure, Snowflake, AWS and GCP, along with Kubernetes, Docker and similar.
  • Data warehousing methodologies such as Kimball or Data Vault, CI/CD practices, and data quality and governance processes.


Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Science, Engineering or Technology. A Masters is preferred.
