The Data & AI Practice Lead will drive the establishment and growth of a thriving Data and Artificial Intelligence consulting practice in Perth. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role best suited for an experienced professional who excels in both business development and technical arenas, and can shape, deliver and expand industry-leading data and AI solutions for clients. This individual will inherit a warm pipeline, help close new opportunities and be instrumental in defining and delivering the long-term vision for the practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, lead, and grow the Data & AI practice, with an initial focus on business development and client acquisition.
  • Own strategy and execution: shape the structure, services and technology roadmap of the practice.
  • Engage with clients to identify needs and design data and AI solutions-tailored to their business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor future team members, fostering a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Represent the practice externally, building relationships and a reputation within the Perth data and AI community.
  • Drive cross-functional and cross-industry projects with other internal teams (e.g., digital, consulting).
  • Maintain a technology-agnostic stance; knowledge of tech is valued, but the ability to translate business needs into data/AI outcomes takes precedence.
  • Develop and maintain a robust client pipeline, leveraging your network and market knowledge.
  • Provide thought leadership, market research insights, and contribute to RFPs, capability statements and other collateral as required.

Key Requirements:

  • Significant experience designing and delivering data and AI solutions (strategy and hands-on execution).
  • Recognised leader in the Perth data/AI market; existing network and ability to quickly establish trust with clients.
  • Consulting background required (Big Four not mandatory), ideally with both technical and commercial client-facing experience.
  • Proven business development skills with the ability to identify, win and execute projects growing the practice.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: able to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Inclusive leadership style; known for people development and team-building.
  • Adept at working across client domains: mining, utilities, higher education and beyond.
  • Deep experience in solution design but not wed to any single technology stack.
  • Credibility, agility and a willingness to “roll up sleeves.”
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a long-term intent to help build the business.
  • (Desirable) Prior experience in a leadership or practice-building position.

Cultural Fit:

  • Team-focused, humanistic and positive outlook; a natural collaborator.
  • Creative thinker not afraid to challenge convention or take bold decisions.
  • Keen to contribute to a high-growth, values-led organisation with ambitions for market leadership.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, fast growth and working closely with founders/directors.

Remuneration and Opportunity:

  • Competitive fixed annual remuneration (inclusive of superannuation and with bonus/commission opportunities to be discussed).
  • Leadership track with uncapped potential (equity/buy-in is possible for the right individual).
  • Start date: February preferred, but negotiable for the best candidate.

Reporting:

  • Reports to the Board and works closely with founders/co-founders.

Confidentiality:

  • Company will be shared only with final stage candidates; confidentiality is important due to market overlap.
