Senior Business Systems Analyst | NOR Perth | $130–150k + super
The quick version
- Fix practical business problems across finance, payroll and operations
- Turn unclear or inconsistent processes into simple, usable workflows
- Be the link between people, process and ICT without needing deep technical skills
Why this role exists
The organisation is growing quickly and several core processes need tightening. Finance, payroll and operations have pain points caused by unclear steps, manual work, handovers and inconsistent approvals. Before a major HR and payroll program begins in 2026, the business needs someone who can sit with users, understand how work is actually done and streamline the processes that sit behind the systems. This role will suit someone with a finance, payroll or systems-accounting background who has stepped into process improvement work and wants to broaden into a business-facing BA role.
What you’ll do
- Work with finance, payroll, HR and IT operations teams to understand where processes break
- Map “as-is” and “to-be” steps and highlight gaps and handover issues
- Run discussions with supervisors, administrators and corporate staff to understand what isn’t working
- Recommend practical process improvements that people will adopt
- Translate business needs into clear functional requirements for ICT and vendors
- Coordinate UAT including test scripts, user coordination and outcomes tracking
- Support the business through change by improving clarity, communication and adoption
- Contribute to the HR and payroll program in 2026, then support broader corporate process work
Must-haves
- 5+ years in a business analyst, systems accountant or finance process role
- Experience in finance, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable or accounting operations
- Ability to map processes and explain workflow logic clearly
- Confidence running workshops, interviews and practical investigations with staff at all levels
- Comfort working through detail and simplifying complexity for users
- Experience helping users adopt new processes or systems, not just documenting requirements
- Understanding of payroll and finance workflows without needing ERP technical depth
- Comfort working in a structured, mostly Waterfall delivery environment
Nice-to-haves
- Background in construction, engineering, mining or other operational, multi-site environments
- Experience with payroll or HRIS projects
- Familiarity with JD Edwards or similar ERP systems
- Basic comfort with data, reporting or SQL
- Foundations in change management such as PROSCI
Team and ways of working
- Work closely with an ICT project manager and senior business leaders
