  • Hands-on MLOps with strong emphasis on monitoring, reliability and production support
  • Flexible engagement: full-time or part-time considered

Why this role exists

An established data initiative needs an experienced Machine Learning Engineer with a strong MLOps and operational focus to take existing ML and data pipelines and ensure they are production-ready, reliable and supportable. The role sits within a project team but works closely with operational teams in a complex corporate environment.

What you’ll do

  • Deploy and harden ML models and pipelines into robust, production-grade environments
  • Support business-critical ML and data pipelines in production
  • Monitor live pipelines and models, including alerting, performance tuning and optimisation
  • Take accountability for data and model outcomes, understanding their importance to the business
  • Support scheduling, chaining and production control aligned with ITSM and change management processes
  • Provide a senior view on pipeline design, supportability and maintainability
  • Guide teams towards better platform management and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, delivery leads and operational teams
  • Work in an Agile delivery model with high-quality outputs under tight deadlines

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, MLOps Engineer or similar production-focused role
  • Strong background supporting ML or data pipelines in live, business-critical environments
  • Experience working within complex corporate or enterprise settings
  • Solid understanding of monitoring, alerting, performance tuning and operational support models
  • Familiarity with scheduling, orchestration and production control concepts
  • Comfortable working across both project delivery and BAU operational teams
  • Able to hit the ground running in short-term, outcome-driven engagements

Nice to have

  • Experience working with ITSM, change management or formal production support frameworks
  • Experience working in mixed on-site and remote delivery teams

Team & ways of working

  • You’ll join a cross-functional delivery team working in Agile sprints, partnering with data science, engineering, project and operational stakeholders.

Contract details

  • Initial term: 3-month rolling contract
  • Hours: Up to 40 per week, weekdays only
  • Flexibility: 0.6–1.0 FTE considered
  • Location: Perth Metro/hybrid

Why it’s different

  • Strong operational focus with real production accountability
  • Opportunity to influence how ML and data pipelines are supported and maintained
  • Flexibility on hours without sacrificing technical depth
  • Work on meaningful ML systems, not experiments that never ship
